What the technician will check
A technician will usually check the filters, coils, drain line, fan motors, electrical connections and refrigerant pressures. If the system is low on refrigerant, there is normally a leak that needs to be found and repaired before it is recharged.
Repair or replace?
Older systems that need major parts such as a new compressor can cost nearly as much to repair as to replace. The technician can explain both options so you can decide.
Refrigerant work must be licensed
In Australia, anyone who handles refrigerant must hold a refrigerant handling licence, issued through the Australian Refrigeration Council and known as ARCtick. Calls from this site are only passed to businesses whose technicians hold one.
